The firm of Santers was established in January 1985 and has been continuously running since then for a total of over 35years advising individuals and corporate entities.

The founder Martyn Howard Santer was articled to a well-known Central London Firm Davidsons with three branch offices; the senior partners had their own merchant bank Stirling Industrial Securities and were Crown Agents.

Acting for the UK Government and the Foreign Entities with regard to properties here and abroad giving an insight into international trade which the firm has been dealing with ever since.

As such he has been called upon as a specialist to advise on Fractional Trading Contracts, all forms of “Off Balance Sheet Trading and Funding” documents including Bank Guarantees, MTN’s and their derivatives, and Joint Ventures.

In addition to those clients, the firm acted for large Public Construction Companies such as Mc Alpines as well as TV Films and Musical stars, football players and Orient Football Team.

After qualifying he was head hunted to join a City firm Carter & Co, (which had its own Lloyds of London Lists) again with five offices to be Head of General Commercial Litigation dealing with shipping and contract matters for companies such as OCL and independent shipping lines involving his frequent travel to Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and Africa.

Subsequently he was then head hunted to lead a Central London Commercial Property and Private Client firm as head of their Litigation acting for various household names such as Redifusion, BBC, Melvin Bragg and other such celebrities as well as large Construction Contracts and Developers

Due to these specific work types he decided to set up and start his own firm specialising in Commercial Contracts which developed into acting for recording artists such as Tears for Fears, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Dina Carroll, Alisha’s Attic and others as well as large scale litigation involving numerous Car Franchise Groups, as well as their Mergers and Acquisitions

He was instructed to act for BBC Television Company “Battle of the Bands” drafting Contracts for each individual group as well as MTV’s Hospitality Section in their buy out.

He also acted for Korg in their sale to Yamaha and also various well known Sporting personalities in claims against their respective governing bodies.

He is also known for the landmark decision of R&B Custom Brokers Limited – V-UDT which overnight changed the rules on Consumer Contracts and Sale of Goods Law and has often lectured on these matters.

He has been the President of the West Essex Law Society of England and Wales which is a regional office of the Central Law Society of England and Wales and will for an unprecedented six times from October this year be President again. In August 2012 and again in August 2017 he was invited to the Queen’s Garden Party for services to the Legal Profession.
